Clear Creek
For my first set of days off I hiked out to Clear Creek and camped there for two nights. On the way there I was followed by a big horn sheep and later I got caught in a big thunder storm! I spent about half a day searching for ruins but I didn't find any. Here are some pictures:  |

Led my first trad route "Boune-Larue" (5.6) up Little Baldy. It went well, although I lost a $40 cam by placing it too far back in the crack. Had to bushwhack back to the car in the dark, although it was all worth it. Climbing makes me happy. |

decicions
I'll be heading down to Phantom Ranch next month for a job interview. They sound very interested in hiring me. I'm sure that I wouldn't regret it . . .
On the other hand, I've been offered a work exchange at La Posada restaurant in El Potrero Chico, Mexico. I wouldn't be making any cash, but climbing all winter does sound appealing. What should I do? |

I'll be heading out to Redwood Meadow Thursday after work for the annual trail crew party. I have been told that I should bring costumes and whiskey. I really like this park and I envision myself staying here for a few years. Ideally I will get a job as a back country trail crew cook (possibly even working on the trail crew itself). At this moment I have no desire to live in a city, or anywhere near one. Even hopping on a shuttle from the trail head after a few days in the backcountry makes me feel disgruntled toward the general public. |

Lovin life these days, climbing every chance I get (usually at least twice a week). Mostly single pitch sport climbs on Moro rock, although I did complete a three pitch 350ft climb on the west face of Moro a few weeks ago. I'm still terrified of repelling myself into the abyss, but I just learned how to use a prusik knot which makes me feel much more secure. In other news, I've been promoted (?) to the breakfast cook here at the Wuk. My shift starts at 5am and ends at 2:30pm. We'll see how it goes. |

Spot
Spot, our friendly neighborhood bear, has been making a nuisance of himself lately breaking the locks off dumpsters, bluff charging people on their way home from work at night, shitting on the back loading dock. Last night he broke into a postal box and ate a big care package intended for one of the Thai kids. I hope he doesn't get himself shot. |

One of the cooler managers here said she would give me a good reference if I am interested in working at Phantom Ranch when my contract is over here (October). Sounds amazing. |
